NEMO is looking for a talented and experienced finished goods Purchasing Manager. This position reports to the COO and will be responsible for all purchasing-related functions including managing inventory levels at our warehouses, determining supply requirements, placing finished goods purchase orders, managing the inbound logistics and receipt of goods, and administering all facets of the purchasing process within NEMO’s ERP and business systems.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timeliness of NEMO’s inventory replenishment while simultaneously considering key account needs, cash flow, and overall product and distribution strategy.
This role provides the opportunity to bring a high level of strategic thinking and execution to NEMO and make a real impact by streamlining supply planning, purchasing, and supply chain processes and information across the entire organization, which will not only propel the brand forward in reaching its potential faster, but also provide the foundation for future growth.
Role & Responsibilities
Manage the finished goods purchasing process end-to-end, including supply planning, purchasing, vendor management, and inbound transportation logistics.
Determine appropriate quantities of product to order, timing for production and receipt of goods, and inventory spend. Continuously provide feedback to the finance team on purchases and cash flow needs.
Monitor production and follow up with global factory partners regularly to ensure target dates are met. Some evening correspondence through Skype and WeChat as well as occasional international travel will be required to facilitate follow ups.
Manage relationships with global supply chain partners including freight forwarders, 3PL’s, small package carriers, factories and raw material suppliers.
Provide timely forecasts to raw material suppliers and factory partners for NEMO-nominated critical raw materials.
Review and approve all booking requests from the freight forwarder. Ensure correct destinations, products, quantities, mode of transportation, and timing are all appropriate to support business requirements.
Confirm accuracy of shipping documents and process promptly to free up funds on our LOC and start the collection cycle.
Provide regular updates to all stakeholders regarding the status of inbound shipments, timing for receipt, and delays.
Work closely with the Sales & Operations Planning team to understand any significant deviations in demand and work with factories to adjust purchases as necessary.
Create and manage delivery plans to key accounts and distribution centers. Communicate any significant deviations or changes in delivery timing to relevant stakeholders.
Prepare and submit advance ship notices for direct shipments from the factories to key accounts with compliance requirements.
Lead supply planning and purchasing meetings with all relevant stakeholders. Prepare and provide overviews of the current stock position for all active items and provide purchase recommendations as appropriate.
Coordinate and manage the inbound transportation of all factory goods to destination warehouses and key accounts. Follow up with the appropriate parties to obtain receiving documentation and manage the receipt of goods within NEMO’s ERP system accordingly.
Continuously re-evaluate purchasing and supply chain management processes and identify areas for improvement. Review suggestions with your manager and the key stakeholders and take the initiative to implement solutions.
At least 4 years of finished goods purchasing and inventory management in a global supply chain
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
Commitment to and excitement about the challenge of contributing in a meaningful way to the continued success and growth of NEMO
Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
A keen sense of urgency and a demonstrated ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Must be detail-oriented, but able to present the big picture
Comfortable working both autonomously and in a team environment
Able to manage cross-functional relationships and influence business decisions with internal and external partners
Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of time
Passion for the outdoors and outdoor gear is a plus
Working knowledge of NetSuite is a plus
Prior outdoor industry experience working with factory partners in Asia is a plus
