To land this exciting new role, you must be a proven footwear developer with at least 5 years of experience in a product development capacity. Able to lead and manage multiple product development projects, offer ideas on product design, construction & materials and plan & initiate fit/wear testing. Classification: Exempt, Full time
Purpose: Lead technical development of footwear from product brief to prototypes to commercialization. Using critical thinking, customer feedback, industry trends and decision-making, provide options, recommendations and solutions.
Lead and manage multiple product development projects throughout the development process in alignment with Oboz product launch seasonal calendar.
Use professional expertise; offer ideas on product design, construction, components, materials and compounds.
Manage and drive mold development and construction with factory mold and tooling engineering personnel.
Plan and initiate fit and wear testing. Review test results. Work with OBOZ team and others to successfully resolve any product concerns.
Work closely with Product Design and Marketing team to review projects and help develop/coordinate product initiative for selling and marketing tools.
Build effective and productive relations with overseas manufacturing team and assure that timelines are met. Travel overseas 2-4 times/year.
Work with Oboz Senior Management team to gain insight about the industry, make team based product decisions and inform leadership of product development progress.
Coordinate, plan and lead product related meetings such as seasonal critical dates, product tear-down meetings, costing discussions, stage-gates and tear-downs.
Work with finance to set target FOB price targets for new products, analyze cost breakdown summaries provided by contract manufactures, seek clarification and make material / construction recommendation to assure that product margins are maximized.
Interface and negotiate with material vendors, suppliers and others to meet product development deadlines.
Travel to, attend and actively participate in tradeshows, sales meetings, and product meetings at overseas contract manufacturers.
Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in footwear development, outdoor performance footwear preferred. Manufacturing industry experience, especially in footwear strongly valued. Must have a comprehensive understanding of footwear construction methods, physical testing of materials and finished products testing.

Working Conditions: Majority of work occurs in an office environment onsite or elsewhere. Time will be spent sitting, working on a computer monitor, and talking via phone. Travel will be required (25%).
